What is Advocacy?
“Advocacy involves speaking with and on behalf of those who have the least voice in society. We speak in order to change public laws, programs, and policies so that justice can be part of their lives.”
– ELCA pamphlet
Advocacy can take many forms:
Speaking with or writing to your political representatives to advocate for particular public policy changes. Sharing information in the congregation about issues on which members can take action. Making individual and congregational consumer decisions which promote justice and environmental sustainability. Praying for people whose lives are affected by the policy decisions and consumer choices we make.
